The excellent mix of spot and architecture, the Bittebakken 1950s present day property in St George’s Hill, Surrey, is on the current market.
Scandinavian-motivated modernism dating from 1959 and general, a homie that has scarcely altered more than the many years. That is a large moreover far too. This type of midcentury present day ‘look’ is incredibly incredibly hot suitable now and to have all those people primary aspects intact is a big offering place.
The perform of architect John Malyan along with its authentic Norwegian house owners, the household sits on a substantial and tranquil plot of 1.2 acres, with plenty of place outdoors to rest and study the Scandi architecture on offer you right here. Even though for me, the authentic handle is past the front doorway.
But prior to we get there, let us admire that authentic 1950s angular structure, which was most likely daring for the era and even now however catches the eye. You truly wouldn’t consider this home was produced 63 years in the past. It would set a lot of new builds of the 21st century to shame.
And that’s ahead of we appear at the inside, which for me, is pretty special.
As I mentioned previously, the midcentury Scandinavian glimpse is exceptionally sizzling ideal now, and this residence is quite much a time capsule of the unique appear. Open up space, pure wood, uncovered brick, and the dramatic vaulted ceilings inside. This was and continue to is a assertion interior. Personally, I would not alter a thing. But that simply call is down to you if you are fortunate ample to be the future proprietor.
The focal level is that astounding reception house with a towering fire on the exposed brick wall and the angled, wood-clad wall. The cosiness of Scandinavian design blended with the boldness of modernism. Be aware that unique rosewood flooring way too.
That wooden and brick topic is some thing of a continual through, proper from the vaulted entrance hall with its first slate flooring. Huge home windows too, as you would be expecting from a property of this era and with extensive grounds to admire.
Delicate updates about the period, no matter if that’s an updated en-suite or a tweak of the kitchen. But extremely minimal has modified to these eyes. I really like the reception location, but also that entrance hall, the unique inner doors (and front door), the breakfast bar and kitchen units, plus the original created-ins. It is just a delight.
I’m absolutely sure a new proprietor would want to put their very own spin on the household for functional or stylistic motives. But lots of of the particulars in this article would be tricky and expensive to replicate in the present day era and ought to be treasured.
In phrases of the format, the statement entrance potential customers into the reception/drawing room and a dining place divided from the kitchen area by the breakfast bar. That kitchen area also has access to a pantry, with a utility not much absent.
The principal bedroom has an en-suite, with 4 further bedrooms and a relatives toilet.
If you get tired of admiring the inside, you can constantly choose a stroll all over the grounds, which are a massive promoting point in by themselves.
1.2 acres of secluded and mature landscaped gardens just further than the entrance doorway. The perfect put to get absent from it all, with lawns and specimen trees as you would anticipate, alongside with a significant outdoor swimming pool. Bear in mind I mentioned this was a Scandinavian layout? That implies a sauna, as well, alongside with an adjoining shower place.
A extensive, non-public driveway way too, with parking house for various cars and trucks and a separate double garage.
Of study course, you are also located within St George’s Hill way too. A private, gated estate and one particular of the most sought-following spots in the Uk, entire with a private championship common golf training course and separate non-public tennis and squash clubs. A position to be.
If all of that appeals, Bittebakken has just absent on the current market with Savills with a guidebook rate of £2,500,000.
