The new coronavirus has changed life for all of us. Local businesses have taken a huge economic hit, but communities are finding creative ways to support the establishments they know and love.
In an effort to help local businesses in our communities stay connected and succeed, Patch will shine a light on some of them through a series of Q&A articles during this time.
Classic Home and Garden is one of the businesses in town facing struggles during the coronavirus. You can lend your support by reading more about the company, below, and by contacting them here.
Tell us about your business and its history in your town.
Classic Home and Garden has been in Far Hills since 2003 at the Mall at Far Hills and within the last few years has moved down the street to 49 Rte 202, Ludlow Square at Far Hills. My name is Karen Waldron and I am the proud sole owner of Classic Home and Garden. I am a local gal who grew up in Basking Ridge and now resides in Bernardsville. I work tirelessly to live up to my own high standards and enjoy working with customers both for interior and exterior design services, home furnishings and gifts.
My retail shop offers a wide variety of home furnishings , florals, linens and gifts. My staff and I pride ourselves in finding unusual, handmade and imported design items and gifts for the home. We specialize in custom outdoor cushion reupholstery. We carry a wide selection of indoor and outdoor fabrics which include: all Sunbrella fabrics, Outdura , Thibaut indoor/outdoor fabrics, Thibaut performance fabrics, Scalamandre and more. Furniture and umbrellas are also available, brands include: Gensun, DWL, Seaside Casual, Kingsley Bate, and more.
How has the new coronavirus impacted your business and its employees?
We have been closed since March 19 when Gov. Murphy mandated that non-essential businesses be closed. It was a sad day for all. We miss our customers and friends terribly during this time. Our spring and summer merchandise is in stock and can be virtually seen and ordered via Instagram and Facebook.
How can local customers support you now and in the future?
Please consider us for your outdoor needs. Outdoor cushion reupholstery and outdoor fabric books are sanitized and available for pickup outside. Home container/pot design and planting services are sure to please. Outdoor furniture and umbrella orders are available by email or phone. Quotes will be available. Masks and gloves have been mandated, and we have been very diligent with all sanitary needs.
Do you have any words of encouragement for your community?
Stay safe and stay well! We want to make you happy in these troubling times. Let us brighten your home with a beautiful new wreath for your front door or a tabletop floral that will bring some sunshine into your life. Call with your colors and favorite flowers.
Are you offering any special services, promotions or hours during this time?
Local pickup or delivery is available for small items and our upholsterer is available for any reupholstery needs that you may have. The store closed but we can be contacted via email or phone with any or all needs.
Are there any other outstanding businesses in town you think deserve some community support?
Urban Cottage and Bookworm.
