In Dream Big, Live Small, we visit tiny home-dwellers, discovering why they choose to live this way, how they manage it and the possibilities to do things like travel, learn and grow that have resulted from downsizing so significantly. In the long run, living small is really about living big.

While some design tiny homes to look like mini versions of standard houses, others get a little more creative with their dwellings. Take Georgia John and Fin Kernohan of Dublin, for instance. The duo built a tiny home that looks like a tiny firehouse as a tribute to firefighters and first responders.

In this episode of Dream Big, Live Small, you can see inside the couple’s 148-square-foot home that features a balcony, an outdoor showering area and original hardware from an old firefighting truck.

Other than the small floor plan and design inspiration, what’s unique about this tiny home is that it’s entirely powered by solar power. In addition, the home features a 1966 fire hydrant, a composting toilet, a lofted area that fits a full-size bed and French doors that open up to a small balcony. It’s basically everything you could want while living tiny — and more.

To get a complete tour the Kernohan’s tiny home, be sure to watch the full episode above. And in case you want to join the tiny house revolution yourself, check out these kits you can buy on Amazon to build your own.
